Shit, that was not the best thing to write.
Actually, if you have played GTA Vice City, one of the radio shows on there, some woman screams “MARRY YOUR MOTHER!”

There were freshmen at my college who were married (first) and (then) having babies, so no. Or maybe yes?
It’s sad when you have it happen at 19 and feel pretty good about your life, but then it happens again at 29 and isn’t so great now...

I had three girls in my senior HS class having kids, I was 18 at the time. By 19 that jumped to 7 people with kids, a handful engaged

My junior/senior high school was actually pretty good, I can only think of 3 girls who had babies over the course of the 6 years I was there. There was also only ~500 people for the 6 grades.

I have a few shelves of model cars in my living room. They seem to be doing a great job detering women so I’m in no immediate danger.

It was sort of like that for me here. When I was a junior I knew a few seniors that were getting married or having kids. When I was 18 (but graduated) one or two of my classmates had gotten married and/or were expecting.

I’m 26, I’m getting to the point where all my friends who had serious girlfriends back in HS or College have married and are on one of multiple children. And I’m just over here wondering how much is too much to sink in to a car with 185k on the body but 80k on the motor…

Getting married is OK. We don’t plan on having kids, though, so it basically just improved the amount of disposable income we have available. (although I think I probably have less now on account of having to spend some of it on home stuff)

If you’re self-assured and know what you want in life, getting married shouldn’t affect it.
Your girl wants to settle down, be sure she knows what you like and roughly what it can cost as a hobby. Get some form of sports car and get her comfortable with its presence as early as possible. Before marriage, and preferably even before engagement.
To some extent, you understand and appreciate your partner’s material interests. A good partner would do the same for you. She needs the opportunity to experience what it means to you. Otherwise it will become “just another expense that we don’t need,” which becomes “I make good money but my wife won’t let me buy a sports car.”
Kids.........yeah, get your sports cars before you have kids. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to keep one and have some time to enjoy it after the first few months of newborn hazing. I’m lucky enough to be in this sort of situation, but things may have turned out differently if I didn’t make an impulse buy shortly after proposing.

Oh we have had that discussion. The first one was definitely her. Can’t blame a guy for divorcing a woman who came after him with a knife. The other one? That’s up for debate. At least he’s still married to #3.

2 incomes for more racecar things
Kids to train into racecar repair helpers/ racecar driving legends! Also, an excuse to buy more diecast cars.
I really don’t see any other reasons why anyone would get married and have beh behs.

With the right woman, marraige is not a handbrake. Yes, something like 50% fail and end in divorce, but you gotta aim for the other 50%, and make sure you know who you’re marrying, and that they don’t get on your nerves a lot :)
Besides that, I posted this pic on FB 2 years ago. 3 months later I met the woman that would become my wife :)

Kids, however, are an inevitable handbrake. Plan around them.

I’m experiencing the same thing for a few years now. Well, friends having kids. Marriage tends to be seen as something old-fashioned and few do it. Where I live you don’t need it for tax incentives anymore either. Anyway, people started having kids around me when I was in my late 20s. I’m 33 now.
That's gonna leave a mark!
